Sr. Mechanical Designer (San Leandro)
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Designer with strong expertise in mechanisms and welded structures, along with exposure to sheet metal design, to support projects at our customer facility in San Leandro, California. This is a senior-level, hands-on design role requiring deep technical capability, leadership, and direct customer engagement.The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of mechanical design experience, advanced proficiency in PTC Creo for parametric 3D modeling, and strong working knowledge of Windchill for product data management, BOM creation, and revision control. Experience designing across fabricated assemblies-including welded and sheet metal components-is a plus.Job Duties:Lead end-to-end mechanical design activities including:Concept developmentMechanism design and kinematicsWelded structural design and detailingSheet metal component design (as applicable)Component and assembly modelingDevelop robust, manufacturable designs that meet performance, cost, and quality requirementsGenerate detailed engineering drawings with proper GD&T per ASME standardsRequirements:7+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience with strong expertise in:Mechanisms (linkages, motion systems, moving assemblies)Welded structures (frames, fabricated assemblies, structural integrity)Advanced proficiency in:PTC Creo (3D modeling & assemblies)Windchill (PDM, BOMs, revision control)Extensive experience creating manufacturing drawings with GD&TStrong understanding of:Materials and fabrication processesMachining and welding best practicesDesign for manufacturability (DFM)Preferred:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fieldExperience working onsite at customer facilitiesBackground in heavy equipment, industrial machinery, or similar industriesFamiliarity with structural analysis concepts (FEA exposure a plus)Experience leading small design teams or projectsStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsExcellent communication and presentation abilitiesAbility to work independently and lead design effortsDetail-oriented with strong organizational skillsCustomer-focused mindsetWe provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary range of $108,160 to $128,960. Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
