Reports To: Head of Maintenance
Location: Multiple sites across the Portland area (travel between locations required)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Lead to support operations across multiple self-storage facilities. This hands-on role is ideal for a skilled general maintenance professional with a background in construction trades. The Maintenance Lead will perform repairs, oversee unit readiness, and help maintain safe, clean, and functional properties while reporting directly to the Head of Maintenance.
A company-provided work truck is included for job-related travel.
Key Responsibilities
Perform general maintenance and repair work across facilities, including:
Basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs
Plumbing repairs and fixture replacement
Sheetrock repair and painting
Metal building maintenance (doors, panels, hardware, structural components)
Clean, prep, and restore vacant storage units for rental readiness
Inspect units and common areas; identify maintenance needs and safety concerns
Perform preventative maintenance on buildings and equipment
Assist with larger repair or renovation projects as needed
Maintain organized records of work completed and materials used
Coordinate with the Head of Maintenance on priorities and project timelines
Travel between locations as required (using company vehicle)
Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company policies
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience in general construction and/or facility maintenance
Working knowledge of:
Electrical systems
Plumbing
Drywall/sheetrock repair
Metal building systems
Ability to work independently and manage daily tasks efficiently
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Comfortable performing physical work (lifting, climbing ladders, standing for extended periods)
Valid driver’s license
Basic proficiency with mobile apps or maintenance tracking systems
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in commercial property or self-storage maintenance
HVAC familiarity is a plus
Prior leadership or lead technician experience
OSHA or safety certifications (preferred, not required)
