University Nurse

Faulkner University is seeking a qualified individual to serve as University Nurse. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing primary health care and nursing services in the University's student health center. This individual will also assess and treat minor illnesses and manage chronic health problems. The qualified candidate reports directly to the Dean of Students.This is a part-time, 9-month (August - April) position working approximately 20 hours per week.Summary of Duties:Provide care and treatment for minor illnesses and injuries; be available to evaluate and treat or advise on accidents and illnessesAfter evaluating illness or accident, assist where appropriate in issuing excuses for legitimate class absencesWork with students and parents on health related issuesFacilitate educational programs for students concerning medical and physical wellness problemsAssure open line of communication with Resident Directors and Dean of Students; maintain a working relationship with doctor's offices in the immediate areaKeep records of student illnesses, health forms, immunization records and give shots as neededKeep records of accident reports turned in by Campus Security, Resident Directors and other departmentsMaintain examination rooms, instruments, equipment and suppliesSupervise student workers assigned to the Health CenterQualifications:Bachelor's degree required from an accredited professional school of nursing, Master's degree preferredMinimum of five years of general nursing and/or advance practice in an outpatient settingClinical experience in either Adult or Family medicine preferredMust be currently licensed in the state of Alabama as a Registered NurseFor initial application submit:* Resume* Cover letterEmployment is conditional upon a satisfactory background check and verification of work authorization through E-Verify.Non-discrimination statement: Faulkner University is a church-affiliated liberal arts institution committed to employing a highly qualified and diverse administration, faculty and staff, which reflects the University's religious traditions, values and affiliation, and purpose.
