EHS Lead
EHS LeadThe EHS Lead is responsible for administration, management and performance of the Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, procedures and initiatives at 250 Schilling. This associate provides leadership and guidance to leaders and the safety team for EHS performance, assessing capability levels and identifying common areas of EHS risk, as well as ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations. The EHS Lead is an advisor to operations leaders, ensuring EHS aspects and initiatives are considered and supported in the business' operations strategy (ex. architecture, process and equipment changes). This associate will exercise sound and consistent judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and require minimal direction to accomplish assigned tasks.Responsibilities:Responsible for site safety and environmental regulatory compliance and reporting.Conducts investigations into accidents and work-related injuries and illnesses.Ensures EH&S training by facilitating the development and implementation of safety programs.Ensures EH&S policies and procedures are followed through education and training.Discusses and documents pertinent EH&S topics at staff meetings.Participates as a standing member of all department safety committees.Performs Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) on processes to identify hazards and recommends corrective actions to reduce or eliminate the risk of injury.Assists with the development of monthly topics and agenda for the plant-wide safety meetings.Assists with the review, management, and administration of site safety and environmental programs, with a specific focus on ergonomics.Assists in the development, review, and updating of written safety and environmental programs, standard operating procedures and work instructions.Works closely with Sr. Mgr. EHS to ensure site compliance with company EHS requirements and initiatives.Performs or arranges for Industrial Hygiene testing to assure levels are within acceptable ranges.Keeps abreast of changes to EHS regulations which may impact plant and facility operations. Initiates changes to practices and procedures to support compliance requirements.Skills:Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with a proactive approach to problem-solving.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.Passion for promoting a safe and sustainable workplace culture.Required Qualifications:Degree level qualification and 3+ years of experience in EHS or lieu of a degree, 8+ years of experience in EHS.Experience conducting employee training sessions.Functional knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.At BD, we prioritize on-site collaboration because we believe it fosters creativity, innovation, and effective problem-solving, which are essential in the fast-paced healthcare industry.
