Here’s what we’re looking for: POSITION SUMMARY: A certified Journeyman Tool Maker who uses intrinsic knowledge and die fabrication rules to guide the entire progressive die manufacturing and development process. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: · Study and interpret specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts. · Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments. · Fit and assemble parts into complete assembly, using fixtures, surface plate, hand tools, and power tools. · Verify dimensions and alignment of assembly, using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gages, sine bars, and gage blocks. · Confer with engineers, tool & die makers, production and / or quality personnel, or others to resolve die development and piece part problems. · Communicate with co-workers and manager to receive instructions and activities. · Lift machined parts manually or using hoist, and position and secure parts on surface plate or worktable, using devices such as vises, angle plates, V-blocks. · Examine new dies, tools, jigs & fixtures and recommend design modifications regarding construction and function. · Connect wiring and hydraulic lines to install electrical and hydraulic components to a die. · Fabricate components, fit and assemble new tooling. · Assist in establishing production readiness, including selection of periphery equipment, press set-up and piece part handling. · Communicate with all levels of the organization to ensure a timely, cost-effective outcome.
