What You’ll DoLead team of incarcerated individuals (i.e., provides work direction and training) in receiving, inspecting, storing, and distributing stock, supplies and/or equipment in assigned work areas (e.g., warehouse, quartermaster, laundry, commissary)Enforces storeroom or warehouse proceduresInventories and orders suppliesCompletes and maintains shipping, receiving and inventory recordsReceives clothing and shoes for incarcerated individualsReceives clothing and equipment for staffIssues and/or exchanges clothing items and shoes for incarcerated individualsIssues and/or exchanges clothing items and equipment for staffStores and rotates stockUpdates and maintains logs and records, maintains perpetual inventoryLabels and/or prices stock itemsFollows all applicable safety rules, policies, and procedures.Operates all related equipment assigned to areaOpens incoming mail and physically inspects contentsOperates x-ray equipment to scan incoming parcels and packages for detection of potentially threatening and/or suspicious materials (contraband)Follows security procedures for confiscation of contraband and notification of appropriate institutional staff for investigationOperates postage machines (e.g. postage scale, meter machine) to process incoming/outgoing mail (e.g. sorts mail for most efficient handlingDetermines class of mailSets postage meters: date and time stamps, opens, bundles, addresses Completes documentation associated with special mail handling such as certified return receipts or receipts for insurance Ensures prompt handling of time sensitive documents that could have impact on legal notifications) and delivers to appropriate office and/or picks up mail, parcels and/or messagesPrepares and submits all applicable reports when required and/or requested and ensures audit control of recordsDistributes cleaning supplies, paper products, dry goods and other food itemsReceives clothing and shoes from incarcerated individuals being releasedReceives clothing and equipment from staff separating from the institutionLoads and unloads trucks and/or distributes contents to various officesMaintains daily record in assigned area.Maintains clean and orderly work areaServes on institution committeesFormal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions & percentages; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in inventory control; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in OSHA &/or other safety standards & practices applicable to storeroom or warehouse operations.
