Technical Engineering Lead

Overview As a Technical Engineering Lead at RES, you will provide senior technical leadership in ecological restoration, stream and wetland design, and water resources projects, guiding decisions from feasibility through closeout. You’ll drive QA/QC, shape technical strategy, and support business development across the Mid-Atlantic. This role blends technical excellence with client-facing leadership, helping RES deliver impactful restoration solutions. You’ll mentor teams, manage complex projects, and influence regulatory-compliant designs that advance sustainability goals. ResponsibilitiesProvide senior technical leadership for engineering design with focus on stream and wetland restoration, stormwater design, hydrology, hydraulics, and geomorphologyServe as technical design subject matter expert guiding feasibility through construction and closeoutLead or support QA/QC processes ensuring deliverables meet standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirementsLead business development activities by engaging stakeholders and advancing opportunities toward commercial bookingsSupport multidisciplinary teams in prospecting, qualifying opportunities, developing client solutions, and submitting proposalsMentor engineering staff, provide technical coaching, and contribute to design standards, quality practices, and regulatory complianceManage client relationships, contracts, scopes, budgets, schedules, and expectationsEngage with regulators, clients, contractors, landowners, and project stakeholders to advance projects Key requirementsBachelor’s degree in EngineeringProfessional Engineer license in applicable state(s)15+ years of progressive engineering experienceDeep expertise in stream and wetland restoration design, stormwater design, or related water resources engineering3+ years as a seller-doer leading pursuit and delivery of projectsExperience leading or improving QA/QC for engineering deliverablesStrong relationships with public agencies, developers, consulting firms, nonprofits, and academia in MD, VA, KYWorking knowledge of Clean Water Act 401/404 and state/local regulatory requirementsExperience supporting early-stage feasibility, concept design, constructability review, and construction planningExperience with construction oversight or hands-on construction supportExperience managing client relationships, contracts, scopes, schedules, budgets, and expectationsExperience engaging with regulators, clients, contractors, landowners, and stakeholderscollaborationinitiativeintegrityecological restoration designstream and wetland designstormwater design
