JOB TITLE: Human Resources Assistant

STATUS: Part-Time (Mon – Thursday 9:30 am-3:30 pm; Friday 10am–2 pm)

Job Summary:
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington (BGCGW) seeks a high-powered, go-to Human Resources/Office Assistant to join the HR Team. The ideal candidate will be confident, friendly, and team-oriented, ready to perform a variety of responsibilities and duties to support and enhance the HR team while promoting results with employee-related functions:
Duties/Responsibilities:
Supports HR Manager with coordinating orientation/onboarding for new hires & VIP separations.
Assists HR Manager with successfully organizing open enrollment.
Anticipates updates and steadily maintains the Learn 24 system.
Administers paper payroll checks; collects, secures and distributes to employees.
Supports in securing and organizing new hire paperwork to expedite the hiring process.
Assists HR Manager with retaining and maintaining department records and reports (current and historical) by collaborating on the design and implementation of a comprehensive filing and retrieval system. Partners with HR Manager to preserve and safeguard all employee data in HRIS and otherwise.
Collaborates with HR Manager to expedite benefits administration, working with Broker to ensure timely enrollments, while assisting with the resolution of employee claims and other benefit-related issues.
Participates in college job fairs and co-hosts internal recruitment events.
Creates VIP organization-issued identification badges.
Submits weekly reports to the Human Resources Manager.
Inventories and maintains office and kitchen supplies.
Collects and distributes daily mail delivery and packages.
Maintains Envoy reservation system.
Earnestly contributes to BGCGW team efforts by efficiently accomplishing results.
Fosters and nurtures effective cross-departmental relationships.
Handles and protects confidential information with the highest level of discretion.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field required.
A minimum of two (2) years of human resource experience preferred.
SHRM-CP preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective troubleshooting skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and seek guidance when appropriate.
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Possesses a strong ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
Ability to coherently manage multiple tasks and to thrive in troubleshooting with limited supervision.
Demonstrated track record of respectable professionalism.
Proven ability to understand and exercise Emotional Intelligence (EQ).
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Must be able to access and navigate each department and travel to the organization’s facilities.
Schedule:
Part-Time 5 days per week.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
