Job DescriptionThe Patient Access Specialist is responsible for supporting the patient intake and registration process within a healthcare organization. This role serves as a primary point of contact for patients and helps ensure accurate scheduling, insurance verification, registration, and financial clearance while delivering excellent customer service.Key ResponsibilitiesGreet and assist patients in person and over the phoneSchedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointmentsRegister patients and maintain accurate demographic informationVerify insurance eligibility, benefits, referrals, and authorizationsCollect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balancesExplain financial responsibilities and payment options to patientsObtain required consent and privacy documentationCoordinate with providers, nurses, and insurance companies to support patient careMaintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational policiesUtilize electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems such as Epic or CernerRequired SkillsStrong customer service and communication skillsAttention to detail and data accuracyAbility to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environmentKnowledge of insurance verification and medical terminologyBasic computer and EMR system proficiencyProblem-solving and conflict-resolution abilitiesQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED requiredAssociate degree or healthcare certification preferred1–2 years of healthcare registration, scheduling, or customer service experience preferredExperience with insurance verification and prior authorizations is often preferredPay$17-$21/hr DOEBenefitsThis position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)Addison Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
