Purchasing Manager (Electrical) | Sterling, VAWe are seeking a Purchasing Manager to spearhead our procurement operations and ensure our field teams are equipped for success. This is a pivotal role designed for a high-impact professional who can balance day-to-day execution with long-term strategic growth. As we scale, you will have the opportunity to standardize our supply chain operations and evolve into a broader leadership position.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Sourcing & Vendor ManagementRelationship Leadership: Develop and maintain high-level partnerships with local and national electrical suppliers to secure Tier-1 pricing, favorable terms, and prioritized lead times.Contract Negotiation: Execute pricing agreements and volume discounts to drive measurable cost savings across the organization.Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify and onboard new vendors to diversify sourcing options and protect against supply chain disruptions.Project Support & Material CoordinationField Partnership: Collaborate closely with Project Managers and field leadership to forecast material requirements and eliminate project delays.Procurement Execution: Manage the end-to-end purchasing of electrical materials, tools, and equipment for multiple active job sites.Logistics Oversight: Ensure the timely delivery of all orders while aggressively resolving shortages, backorders, and billing discrepancies.Preconstruction Support: Assist in preconstruction efforts by providing accurate material pricing, assisting with takeoffs, and contributing to budget planning.Operational Excellence & Process ImprovementStandardization: Establish and refine purchasing policies, workflows, and best practices to improve organizational efficiency.Systems Management: Implement and oversee procurement tracking systems to provide real-time visibility into order status, costs, and timelines.Financial Oversight: Partner with the Accounting department to ensure precise job costing, accurate inventory levels, and seamless invoice reconciliation.Inventory Optimization: Coordinate with warehouse and shop teams to manage stock levels and optimize ordering strategies.What We Are Looking ForIndustry Expertise: 5+ years of dedicated procurement or supply chain experience specifically within the electrical contracting field.Product Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of electrical materials, components, and current market dynamics.Negotiation : A proven track record of successfully negotiating complex vendor contracts and driving cost-reduction initiatives.Technical Proficiency: Mastery of Microsoft Excel and a high level of comfort with construction management or specialized procurement software.Logistics: A valid driver’s license (required for occasional visits to job sites or vendor locations).
