Lead Maintenance Technician
Maintenance Technician / Maintenance Team LeadThis role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and improving production equipment and system components in a high-volume manufacturing environment. You will perform both electrical and mechanical diagnostics, execute preventive and corrective maintenance, and support continuous improvement by identifying and resolving root causes of equipment issues. Openings are available for both Maintenance Technicians and a Maintenance Team Lead on 2nd and 3rd shift.ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including 3-phase motors and controls up to 480V, using a multi-meter and other diagnostic tools.Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and symbols to diagnose and correct system faults.Perform mechanical troubleshooting and repair of hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, and occasional complex mechanical rigging.Follow and execute a detailed preventive maintenance schedule to minimize downtime and prevent major equipment breakdowns.Perform both scheduled and unscheduled (non-routine) preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment.Identify recurring or systematic equipment issues and perform root cause analysis to implement effective countermeasures.Troubleshoot and support robotic systems and related automation equipment to maintain reliable operation.Assist with PLC troubleshooting to help diagnose control system and equipment performance issues.Document maintenance activities, findings, and repairs to support accurate maintenance records and continuous improvement.Collaborate closely with production and other maintenance team members to prioritize work, minimize line disruptions, and improve equipment performance.For the Team Lead role: coordinate daily maintenance activities, provide technical guidance to technicians, and help ensure safety, quality, and productivity targets are met.Essential SkillsProven experience in electrical troubleshooting of 3-phase motors and controls, including systems operating at 480V.Strong ability to perform mechanical troubleshooting on hydraulic and pneumatic systems.Hands-on experience with mechanical troubleshooting of gearboxes and related drive components.Proficiency in basic electrical controls and circuit analysis, including safe and effective use of a multi-meter.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and symbols for troubleshooting and repairs.Demonstrated experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial equipment, including both scheduled and non-scheduled tasks.Experience with robotic troubleshooting and maintaining robotic systems in a production environment.Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting to assist in diagnosing control system issues.Strong problem-solving skills, including conducting root cause analysis and implementing countermeasure maintenance.Ability to work safely and effectively in a manufacturing environment on 2nd or 3rd shift.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in a manufacturing environment similar to automotive or heavy equipment production.Comfort working with both electrical and mechanical systems as a multi-skilled maintenance professional.Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to equipment downtime.Strong communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and share technical information clearly.Leadership capability for the Team Lead position, including coordinating work and mentoring other technicians.Attention to detail in following maintenance schedules and documenting work performed.Why Work Here?You will join a company that invests in its people through generous time off, strong benefits, and practical support for doing your job well. By the end of 2026, the entire plant is planned to be air conditioned, enhancing overall comfort. The role involves working with industrial electrical systems up to 480V, 3-phase motors and controls, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, gearboxes, robotic equipment, and PLC-controlled machinery. Maintenance uniforms and all required tools are provided, along with an annual steel toe footwear allowance. Multiple shifts are available: 2nd shift runs from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and 3rd shift runs from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., each operating five days per week.Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Columbus, IN.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $83200.00/yr.
