Minimum qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.3 years of experience with network routing protocols, design, and troubleshooting with network equipment providers.3 years of experience with MPLS VPN, routing protocols, Ethernet switching, or configuring enterprise-class routers, switches, firewalls, and access points. 3 years of experience using one or more programming languages (e.g., C++, Go, or Python).Preferred qualifications: Networking certifications: JNCIE, CCIE.Experience with network platforms.Experience with SDN technologies.Knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals and commonly-used routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, MPLS).About the jobGoogle is proud to boast a network that provides service to millions of Internet users around the world. The Network Engineering team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. As a member of the team, you have a direct impact on design and feature enhancements to keep our systems running smoothly. You also ensure that network operations are safe and efficient by monitoring network performance, coordinating planned maintenance, adjusting hardware components and responding to network connectivity issues. Google's network provides services to millions of Internet users around the world. Our metros are on the edge of our network where Google connects to its users. The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.US: $126000 - $181000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefitsResponsibilitiesLearn more about benefits at Google .Manage escalated trouble calls and work closely with engineering, field technicians, and telecommunications carriers to resolve service issues. Validate problem descriptions and perform detailed problem diagnosis; track and update problems in trouble-ticketing systems.Perform scheduled configuration changes to network switches and routers, firewalls and wireless devices. Identify network issues and determine and recommend appropriate solutions.Participate in a rotating “on call” schedule with other members of the team including weekends.Provide quality documentation and deliver presentations about network issues, updates, troubleshooting techniques and network analysis etc.Execute deliverables on Operations/Engineering projects such as new product introduction (NPI), software qualifications, and coding/automation for operations.Google is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.
