Safety & Compliance Coordinator

Company: Oklahoma State Fair, Inc.Position Title: Safety & Compliance CoordinatorDepartment: Human Resources & AdministrationReports To: Senior Vice President of Human Resources & AdministrationSupervises: N/AClassification: Full-Time, SalaryPay Range: $40,000-$45,000 (dependent upon experience)Job ResponsibilitiesPrimary responsibility is to ensure a safe working environment and prevent injuries and accidents at OKC Fair Park.Maintain compliance with all state and federal safety guidelines through regular on-site trainings and inspections.Facilitate ongoing safety meetings with employees and contractors as needed.Work with managers and department heads to determine training needs.Maintain all training and certification records.Coordinate certification training such as Forklift, Equipment, CPR, etc.Complete routine job site inspections.Conduct daily safety checks on employees.Distribute and manage stock of PPE and other safety supplies.Remedy any identifiable physical safety hazards when possible or submit these safety hazards to operations when the issues cannot be corrected immediately. Document and follow up on these corrective actions.Perform investigations of all incidents, accidents and injuries on property, including during the annual OK State Fair and Ok!toberfest events, documenting cases for potential liability or workers’ comp claims.Perform daily inspections of the facilities during high attendance events to ensure guest safety.Uphold federal and state regulations as well as company safety standards for all OKC Fair Park managed property and facilities.Submit and maintain state and federal reporting requirements.Perform various tasks and duties that may change based upon the needs of the business.Assist in other departments, as needed.Other duties as assigned.Additional Job RequirementsCollege degree in Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field of study, or relevant experience in a safety position, is highly preferred.Basic understanding of OSHA regulations, hazard identification and incident investigation is required.Entry-level certifications preferred (OSHA 10/30-Hour card, First Aid/CPR).Ability to work variable shifts on occasion.Ability to remain calm under pressure during emergency situations.Computer skills including proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).Professional communication skills, including business writing, telephone and interpersonal; strong conflict management/customer service skills; problem solving and organizational skills.Experience in data analysis and technical reporting.Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).General RequirementsStrive to exceed customer expectations.Utilize task prioritization and effective time management skills to meet frequent and competing deadlines in a high-volume, high-stress environment.Perform detailed work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment handling multiple tasks with flexibility in a calm, professional manner.Effectively communicate with others in a clear, business-like, respectful and personable manner focused on generating a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative environment.Maintain high standards of appearance and grooming (i.e., clean, wrinkle free clothing, proper uniform/attire, close attention to personal hygiene).Meet the company standard for excellent attendance, job reliability, diligence and dedication.Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.Speak, read and write in English.Physical Requirements And Working ConditionsExtended hours, nights and weekends may be required during peak periods.Frequent or continual movement from place to place with normal physical mobility, covering long distances with ease, managing assigned tasks throughout various indoor and outdoor locations within and around the property and in potentially inclement/severe weather conditions.Regularly lift, carry and put away items weighing up to 50 lbs. unassisted and occasionally lift and carry heavier items and/or assist others in lifting heavier objects, as job demands.Walk and/or stand for extended periods in addition to other prolonged physical exertions including seeing, hearing, reaching, grasping, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, crouching, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in awkward positions and tight areas may be required.BenefitsA 401(k) program is available once the employee meets the eligibility requirements for participation.Based on job classification, additional benefits that may be offered include Paid Time Off, Medical, Dental, Vision, Flexible Spending, Life, Dependent Life, AD&D, Short- and Long-Term Disability, Various Supplemental Insurances, access to on-site workout facility.
