Overtime may be available and/or required during busy periods.A 10% shift differential is offered for this shift.The Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Machine Operator are described below:SummaryThe SMT Machine Operator is responsible for setup and operation of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) machines.Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the SMT Machine Operator I at AltekIncludes the following:Proficiency in setup and operation of SMT Machines production equipment while achieving goals for quality, efficiency, and productivity.Create basic Stencil Printer programsMonitor the operation of equipment to ensure that assemblies are built to print and in compliance with applicable workmanship standards.Inspect printed solder paste and component alignment for accuracy.Understand and identify defectsPerform daily machine maintenance activities for assigned production equipment as specified on the Preventive Maintenance schedules.Perform manual placement of SMT and PTH components.Load feeders for equipment and wash boards as needed.Read, interpret, follow, and meet the expectations of the SMT Machine ScheduleActively participates in quality initiatives by participating in problem solving, process improvements and performance measurements.Responsible for understanding & following company, and or manufacturing guidelines/proceduresResponsible for product quality as defined by internal and external customers, work instructions, specifications and procedures.Responsible for following established safety rules & 6SOther duties may be assigned as necessaryKnowledge and Skill RequirementsGood eyesight and hand coordinationAbility to read & understand assembly printsDemonstrates understanding of routine aspects of work.Ability to troubleshoot and correct mechanical problemsBasic component identification skillsAbility to work independently and in a team environment with moderate supervisionTypically, up to 2 years of successful experience in area of responsibility and successful demonstration of Essential Duties & Responsibilities as presented above. Education and/or ExperienceMust have a high school diploma or GEDPrevious soldering experience or trainingJ-Std certification a plusIPC-A-610 certification required, or successful completion of certification program per an agreed upon timeline.
