Role DevOps Developer
Why This is an Exciting Role The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization, Intelligence Systems portfolio, is seeking a DevOps Developer to join our Mission Operations team in Herndon, VA. Our team focuses on delivering complex solutions in some of the most challenging environments on Earth. We provide support for our Mission Operations Portfolio area which design, build, test, deploy, operate, and maintain a wide variety of mission critical platforms and systems for commercial and government customers.
This DevOps Developer position performs system automation tasks, to include infrastructure automation, security automation, software installation/updates automation, and configuration/change control automation. The position also provides new solutions to hard technical problems, and provides system support using best DevOps practices with modern and innovative tooling systems. The position also provides support for the design, validation, and configuration management of computing systems, and also works to protect information to meet security requirements. This position also automates the monitoring of system performance to support capacity planning, backup and disaster recovery planning.
Responsibilities Automating and tooling for installation and configuration of Windows servers, Linux servers, Windows workstations, and related software components
Assist with automation of configuring and managing network services, such as DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory, to facilitate communication and resource sharing within the network
Assist with automating the implementation and managing of backup strategies to ensure data protection and disaster recovery capabilities in case of system failures or data loss
Assist with automation of implementing and maintaining security measures, including firewalls, endpoint protection, and access controls, to protect the system from unauthorized access, malware, and other security threats
Analyzing system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing optimizations to improve overall system efficiency and responsiveness
Maintaining accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps, as well as generating reports on system performance, security, and compliance
Participating in the planning and implementation of new systems, upgrades, and migrations, ensuring compatibility and adherence to best practices, leading by example
Staying up-to-date with the latest technologies, industry trends, and security practices, and continuously improving skills and knowledge
Experience and Qualifications To be eligible for this demanding position, the ideal candidate should demonstrate the following experience and qualifications:
Required Education and Years of Experience
L3: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.).
L4: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience, 13 years' related work experience, etc.)
Required Qualifications
Requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph Clearance (Has been active in the past 24 months)
U.S. Citizenship
Experience managing and maintaining servers, workstations, and related infrastructure components using automation tooling
In-depth knowledge and experience with various versions of Windows and Linux Servers, including installation, configuration, and administration
Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other core infrastructure services
Advanced troubleshooting skills and problem-solving abilities and able to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues with critical thinking
Familiarity with cloud (AWS and/or Azure) and/or virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, and/or Nutanix AHV, including virtual machine management, resource allocation, and performance optimization
Familiar with a scripting language such as Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell to automate routine tasks, streamline processes, and improve efficiency
Desired Qualifications Experience with automation tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Puppet, Jenkins, Foreman
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and/or GCP
Certifications in DevOps, DevOps Tooling, and/or IT Certifications
Telework/Remote Availability Telework/Remote work currently not authorized

Summary Pay Range Please note that the information shown below is a general guideline only. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
L3: $127,000 - $155,000
L4: $155,000 - $190,000
