About Catlin Gabel SchoolAt Catlin Gabel School in Portland, Oregon, we believe athletics are an essential part of a student’s education and personal growth. We are seeking a passionate, collaborative, and student-centered Assistant Coach to join our Varsity Volleyball program for the Fall 2026 season starting late Summer 2026.This is an exciting opportunity for a coach who is committed to developing competitive athletes while also fostering confidence, leadership, sportsmanship, and a strong team culture. We are looking for someone who brings positive energy, strong volleyball knowledge, and a genuine enthusiasm for mentoring high school student-athletes.As a member of the coaching staff, you will work closely with the Head Coach and Athletic Department to support a program that values excellence, inclusivity, and whole-student development both on and off the court.What You’ll DoSupport the planning and execution of engaging, competitive, and developmentally appropriate practicesAssist with coaching during varsity matches, tournaments, and team eventsHelp cultivate a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented team cultureMentor and support student-athletes in skill development, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanshipCollaborate with the Head Coach, athletic department, and school community to uphold program expectations and school valuesAssist with team communication, equipment organization, and uniform managementSupport the safe and effective use of athletic facilities and equipmentTravel to games and events throughout the Portland metro areaQualificationsPrevious volleyball coaching and/or competitive playing experience requiredHigh school, club, collegiate, or youth coaching experience strongly preferredDemonstrated ability to positively connect with and motivate student-athletesStrong communication, collaboration, and organizational skillsCommitment to creating an inclusive and respectful team environmentNFHS/OSAA coaching certifications (or ability to obtain upon hire)Current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hireReliable transportation to attend practices and athletic events throughout the Portland metro areaAdditional InformationReview of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filledStipend is competitive and based on experienceThis is a seasonal position for Fall 2026 with a start date of late Summer 2026If you are excited about building meaningful relationships with student-athletes, contributing to a strong volleyball program and adding to the vibrancy of our school community, we encourage you to apply.
