Early Childhood General Studies Teacher

Abraham Joshua Heschel School is seeking a full-time Early Childhood General Studies teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Teachers are the heart and soul of our program. Our faculty works in teams of three to support students' social, emotional, and academic growth. We are looking for an enthusiastic and nurturing educator who is invested in working with young children and facilitating joyful learning. Our teachers help to cultivate the children's Jewish identity, pride, and connection to Israel. Immersive classroom experiences with Jewish prayers, values, holidays, and Shabbat are fundamental to our program. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and writing skills and be equipped with creativity, flexibility, a sense of humor, and a growth mindset. Key Responsibilities:Developing and implementing a dynamic curriculum with a focus on inquiry-based learning and active engagementProviding patient care and scaffolding as children explore, discover, and playBuilding strong relationships with students and familiesCollaborating closely with colleagues to plan and guide interdisciplinary activitiesLeading and supporting lessons in language, literacy, math, science, and the artsCelebrating each child as an individual and meeting a range of needs through differentiationObserving, assessing, and documenting student learningCommunicating goals and progress with families and Early Childhood leadership teamQualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or related fieldExperience working with children between the ages of three and sixKnowledge of developmentally-appropriate practice and dual-language settingsBackground in Fundations, Singapore Math, and Responsive Classroom CurriculumFamiliarity with Jewish holidays and traditionsStrength in teaming and multi-tasking in a busy classroomCommitment to self-reflection and professional developmentAbraham Joshua Heschel School, located in New York City, is an independent, pluralistic Jewish Day School, N-12, unaffiliated with any single movement or synagogue.
