Fire Alarm Installation / Service Technician Job Description:Job SummaryThe Fire Alarm Installation / Service Technician is responsible for installing, testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and maintaining fire alarm systems in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. This role ensures systems comply with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements while delivering high-quality service and safety. Be available for off hours On Call rotation, including holidays and weekends.Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation:Install fire alarm systems including control panels, devices, wiring, and associated equipmentRead and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specificationsInstall conduit, wiring, and field devices in accordance with code requirementsCoordinate with general contractors and other trades on job sitesService & MaintenancePerform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systemsTroubleshoot system issues and perform repairs or replacements as neededDiagnose wiring, device, and panel problems efficientlyRespond to service calls and emergency repairsComplete inspection reports and documentation accuratelyCustomer InteractionCommunicate system status, issues, and recommendations to customersProvide basic system training to end users when requiredMaintain professional relationships with clients and team membersDocumentation & ReportingMaintain service records, test results, and as-built documentationTrack materials used and report job progressFollow company procedures for reporting and complianceQualificationsEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required2+ years of experience in fire alarm installation or service preferredExperience with major systems (e.g., Notifier, Simplex, EST, Bosch) is a plusCertifications (Preferred but not always required)California Life Safety Blue Card - MANDATORYNICET Fire Alarm Systems certification (Level I-III preferred)State or local fire alarm license (as required)OSHA 10/30 certificationSkills & AbilitiesStrong knowledge of fire alarm systems and componentsAbility to read wiring diagrams and construction drawingsProficient with hand tools, meters, and testing equipmentSolid troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsGood communication and customer service skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift and carry up to 50 lbsWork on ladders, lifts, and in confined spacesComfortable working in construction and occupied environmentsWork EnvironmentCombination of indoor and outdoor job sitesExposure to construction environments, dust, and noiseTravel to various job sites as requiredCompensation & Benefits (optional section)* IBEW Local Union 595 Low Voltage / Sound & Comm Union wage scale and benefits package.* Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement (if applicable)Cosco Fire Protection, Inc., is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
