Accounting Manager

We are looking for a dedicated accounting manger to support our mission-driven team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervision: responsible for oversight, training and performance reviews for finance department employees, including the AP Clerk, Two Accountants, and a Payroll Coordinator. Direct workload and allocation, review work for accuracy and efficiency. Supports opportunities for staff professional development and continuing education.
Cash Management: Daily cash reporting, reconcile bank accounts, maintain cash reports, review accounts payable transactions.
General Ledger and Asset Management: responsible for accurate account of revenue, expenses, liabilities and assets; management of general ledger, fixed assets, leases. Responsible for the creating and posting of journal entries. Oversee month-end and year-end closings.
Reconciliations: Routinely performs the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, including monthly bank reconciliations.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state and federal reporting requirements and tax filings. Maintain financial records in compliance with established policies and procedures and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Ensure grant compliance in accordance with 2 CFR 200 and the requirements of funding agencies. Perform quarterly review of grant compliance and allocation of grant funds. Monitor compliance with established internal control policies and procedures. Perform internal audits for petty cash and grant compliance. Assist with audits on sub-recipients.
Reporting: Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements, Prepare and submit monthly departmental financial reports and grant reports reviewing budget to actual variances. Complete and submit monthly and quarterly federal report. Complete and submit quarterly and annual payroll and tax reports.
Policy Development and Implementation: Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with regulatory requirements and established best practices. Develop and/or propose finance-related policies for the agency. Design and participate in procedures to provide strong safeguards for the integrity of data.
Audit: Prepares for and supports the annual financial and single audit. Prepares for and supports federal audits, work comp audits.
Back-up: Provide secondary and back up support to others within the department as follows, but not limited to: AP, Payroll, Staff Accountants
Review monthly payrolls.
As Needed: Meet with program directors, managers, and staff to review financial information, research financial questions, and provide guidance on expense reporting
Perform special projects as assigned and required.

ESO has been serving the Oregon community for over 77 years in filling gaps for the disabled, veterans, low income and older adults with education, career assistance and housing.
OUR FACILITIES
Our administrative office is located in Washington County and we have 19 other office locations in Oregon. This position is located at the administrative office with occasional visits to service locations to meet with peers and participants when needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS
· Accounting duties require a great deal of mental concentration, ability to multi-task, good vision, and professional and pleasant verbal and written communication skills.
· Work with peers, subordinates, and supervisor in a collaborative manner
· Work in an environment with frequent interruptions due to phone calls, and staff or participant needs
· Must have the ability to prioritize and work under critical timelines.
· Some travel within the State is required and varies month to month (0% – 10%) Reliable transportation is essential, and travel is reimbursed at the federal mileage rate.
· Occasional standing, walking, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
· Frequent repetitive motion for hands and arms
· Daily office work environment may contain dust, heat, cold, noise.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field, required.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience.
Supervisory experience required.
Non-profit experience preferred.
Grant compliance and recording experience, preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
Proficiency using MIP/Sage/Abila or other fund or ERP accounting software required.
Proficiency in payroll software systems
Strong oral and written communication, analytical and spreadsheet skills required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful completion of background check, MVR check, and reference check required.
