Engineer 3 (Department Environmental Resources)

Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering and five years of engineering experience are required. A State of Florida Professional Engineer license or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology awarded or having been enrolled prior to July 1, 1979 and proof of having passed the fundamentals test for the State of Florida Professional Engineer license may substitute for the required education.Recruitment NotesThis role is a Liaison for MDAD, RER and DERM regarding site rehabilitation, permitting, construction, and compliance in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Responsibilities entail project management and site rehabilitation projects, which consist of reviewing and negotiating scopes of work, cost proposals, invoices as well as preparation of work orders and coordination with the various County User Departments (MDAD, HCD, DTPW, PROS, WASD, MDFR, etc.).This role also involves reviewing and responding to technical documents concerning due diligence, site assessment, monitoring, soil reuse, remediation, construction plans, and cost estimating that may be technically complicated and require short review times based on pending development (e.g., aviation projects, affordable housing, development projects, etc.). Responsibilities also include supervision, mentoring of junior staff, development of policies and training, and presentations to the public and DERM staff.
