SCADA EngineerEmployment Type: Direct Hire (Full-Time Permanent Position)Industry: Energy & UtilitiesLocation: Tampa, FL 33607 (Onsite 4 days/week, Remote 1 day/week)Our energy & utilities client is seeking a SCADA Engineer to support the design, administration, integration, and maintenance of SCADA and Operational Technology (OT) systems supporting critical electric utility operations. This role is highly cross-functional and will focus on real-time monitoring, industrial control systems, OT infrastructure, database systems, and network/server support across transmission, distribution, and generation environments.The ideal candidate will bring a blend of SCADA, IT infrastructure, database, and industrial automation experience, along with strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities within secure OT environments.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, configure, maintain, and support SCADA systems and OT applications used in utility operationsSupport real-time data acquisition, telemetry, and control system performance across transmission and distribution environmentsTroubleshoot and resolve issues related to RTUs, PLCs, HMIs, communication networks, servers, and field devicesSupport integration between SCADA platforms and enterprise systems including ADMS, EMS, GIS, and other operational applicationsAssist with database design, development, maintenance, and analysis supporting SCADA/OT environmentsSupport OT infrastructure including servers, network connectivity, system patching, and application reliabilityDevelop and maintain automation scripts and tools using technologies such as Python or PowerShellCollaborate with engineering, IT, cybersecurity, and field operations teams to ensure secure and reliable system performanceAssist with SCADA standards, documentation, system upgrades, and modernization initiativesSupport compliance with NERC CIP and OT cybersecurity best practicesParticipate in on-call support rotation as neededRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related field5+ years of experience supporting SCADA, OT, industrial automation, or critical infrastructure systemsExperience working with SCADA platforms in utility or industrial environmentsHands-on experience with PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, telemetry systems, and industrial communicationsStrong understanding of network infrastructure, server support, and OT system architectureExperience with SQL, database development/design, and data analysisExperience with scripting or automation tools such as Python or PowerShellUnderstanding of OT cybersecurity principles and secure system administrationKnowledge of industrial communication protocols including DNP3, Modbus, OPC, or ICCPPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting electric utility operations (transmission, distribution, or generation)Experience with SCADA platforms such as OSI (AspenTech), GE, Siemens, or SchneiderFamiliarity with Allen-Bradley PLC environmentsExperience supporting ADMS, EMS, or grid modernization initiativesExperience with virtualization, Windows Server administration, or industrial networkingKnowledge of substation automation and relay integrationExperience with fiber, radio, or cellular communication systems used in utilitiesFamiliarity with GIS platforms such as EsriWhat Success Looks LikeReliable and secure SCADA/OT system performanceHigh availability of real-time operational data and telemetryEfficient troubleshooting and resolution of OT infrastructure issuesStrong integration between field operations, SCADA platforms, and enterprise systemsSuccessful support of modernization and automation initiatives across utility operations
