Casting Supervisor
Experience: 5 - 8 YearsLocation: North Carolina, USAMandatory RequirementMust have a high school diploma or equivalent.Proven shop-floor supervisory experience (hands-on, not office-only)Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues in real timeExperience coordinating with Maintenance, Quality, and EngineeringStrong understanding of traceability (heat/lot tracking)Comfort working off-shifts/weekends when neededThis role requires a hands-on supervisory approach, with active shop-floor involvement to support production, troubleshoot process or equipment issues, and lead teams during critical operations.Duties/ResponsibilitiesSupervise daily horizontal continuous casting operations including metal transfer, mold/graphite tooling, cooling control, puller operation, and cut-to-length processesMaintain stable casting conditions by controlling metal temperature, casting speed, cooling rates, and tooling conditionCoordinate downstream operations including peeling, ultrasonic testing (UT), cutting, and packingOversee peeling operations including depth-of-cut control, tooling condition, alignment, and yield optimizationEnsure ultrasonic testing is performed per internal procedures and customer specificationsReview UT results, identify defect trends, and coordinate disposition of nonconforming materialOversee cutting operations ensuring cut-length accuracy, blade condition, and minimal cut lossSupervise packing operations ensuring correct bundling, labeling, protection, and traceabilityMaintain full heat and lot traceability through casting, inspection, cutting, and packingEnforce safety requirements related to molten metal, equipment, saws, UT systems, and material handlingProvide hands-on support during startups, equipment downtime, staffing shortages, or process disruptionsCoordinate with Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering to resolve issuesMonitor scrap, peel yield, UT rejects, cut loss, and downtime; implement corrective actionsTrain, coach, and develop operators across all downstream processesSupport continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and process optimizationAvailability for weekends or off-shift support as requiredRequired Skills/AbilitiesStrong knowledge of aluminum horizontal continuous casting operationsWorking knowledge of peeling, ultrasonic testing, cutting, and packing processesHands-on troubleshooting capability in a manufacturing or foundry environmentStrong leadership, communication, and team management skillsAbility to interpret process data, inspection results, and production metricsFamiliarity with quality systems, traceability, and customer requirementsAbility to prioritize tasks and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environmentPhysical RequirementsMust be able to work in a hot, noisy industrial manufacturing environmentMust be able to stand and walk for extended periodsMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds at timesMust be able to bend, stretch, squat, climb, and work around industrial equipment
