Survey Technician
SUMMARYThis position offers an opportunity to take ownership of complex mapping workflows supporting large-scale infrastructure projects. The role focuses on leading the creation of accurate survey base mapping by integrating field data, control networks, and advanced modeling tools. You’ll play a key role in guiding technical teams, improving processes, and delivering high-quality outputs while working in a flexible office or hybrid environment. This is ideal for someone who enjoys both hands-on technical work and leadership responsibility, with strong earning potential based on experience. RESPONSIBILITIESLead the development of survey base mapping using control networks, field survey inputs, and supplemental datasets Oversee creation and maintenance of terrain models, surface data, and mapping processes Conduct thorough QA/QC reviews to ensure alignment with coordinate systems, baselines, and control points Process and manage data across Civil 3D and MicroStation platforms, ensuring consistency between systems Coordinate with survey teams, design staff, and other stakeholders to resolve mapping discrepancies Reconcile mapping outputs with existing plans, alignments, and project requirements Manage team workload, schedules, and overall project deliverables Support data exchange workflows and cross-platform integration efforts Provide technical leadership, training, and mentorship to junior team members QUALIFICATIONSMinimum 10 years of experience supporting survey mapping or transportation-related projects Required proficiency in Civil 3D and MicroStation (OpenRoads/InRoads) Required experience working with NJDOT and/or PennDOT standards and deliverables Must reside in NJ, NY, or PA Strong understanding of survey control, coordinate systems, and surface modeling Experience developing DTMs, terrain models, and mapping datasets Ability to independently build and reconcile survey base mapping from initial control through final deliverables Proven leadership experience managing teams, priorities, and deadlines Field survey experience preferred with well-rounded technical capability LiDAR experience is a plus BENEFITSCompetitive hourly compensation aligned with experience level Flexible work setup (office or hybrid) to support work-life balance Opportunity to lead impactful infrastructure and transportation projects Hands-on exposure to advanced mapping tools and cross-platform workflows Career advancement through leadership responsibilities and technical ownership Collaborative team environment with opportunities to mentor and grow othersSUMMARYThis position offers an opportunity to take ownership of complex mapping workflows supporting large-scale infrastructure projects.
