East Coast Warehouse & Distribution is seeking an experienced General Manager to oversee operations for our Houston, Texas facility, which includes both general warehousing and a Centralized Examination Station (CES). This role is responsible for managing daily operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, enhancing operational efficiency, and leading a team to deliver exceptional service to our clients.

The ideal candidate has proven experience in warehouse and CES management, a strong understanding of logistics and distribution, and excellent leadership skills.
Responsibilities
Operational Management:
Oversee daily operations of both the warehouse and CES, ensuring efficient and effective workflows, timely processing of goods, and adherence to company standards.
Develop and implement strategies to optimize inventory management, shipping, receiving, storage, and overall warehouse processes.
Monitor key performance metrics and adjust operations as needed to maintain productivity and accuracy.
Compliance and Regulatory Requirements:
Ensure the CES meets all federal regulations, including Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws and regulations related to imports, exports, and examination processes.
Coordinate with CBP officers and other agencies to facilitate inspections and resolve compliance issues.
Leadership and Team Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of warehouse and CES employees, including supervisors, clerks, and warehouse staff.
Establish clear performance goals, provide regular feedback, and foster a collaborative work environment.
Conduct training sessions to ensure staff are knowledgeable about safety protocols, operational procedures, and regulatory compliance.
Customer Service and Client Relations:
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients utilizing the warehouse and CES facilities, addressing their needs and resolving issues promptly.
Work closely with customers to understand their requirements, provide customized solutions, and maintain a high level of client satisfaction.
Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to support new client onboarding and contract renewals.
Financial and Budget Management:
Develop and manage the warehouse and CES budget, including labor, equipment, maintenance, and other operational expenses.
Monitor financial performance, implement cost‑saving measures, and achieve profitability goals.
Prepare and present regular financial reports to senior management.
Health and Safety Compliance:
Ensure the facility complies with all OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
Conduct regular safety audits, training, and emergency preparedness drills.
Address any safety issues promptly and promote a culture of safety among staff.
Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years of experience in warehouse management
Proven leadership skills with experience managing large teams and overseeing complex logistics operations.
Strong knowledge of CBP regulations, import/export requirements, and CES operations is a plus
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service and client satisfaction.
Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and other logistics software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
