Director of Quality

Director of Quality📍 Farmingdale, NY (Onsite)We’re partnering with a well-established manufacturing organization in the aerospace/defense space that’s looking to bring on a Director of Quality to lead and elevate their quality function.This is a high-impact role where you’ll own the Quality Management System, work directly with leadership, and play a key role in driving compliance, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement across the business.What you’ll be doing:Own and lead the company’s Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring alignment with AS9100 standardsDrive the organization through AS9100 certification and ongoing complianceLead internal audits, corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and continuous improvement initiativesPartner with customers to address quality issues, complaints, and overall satisfactionEnsure compliance with ITAR and export regulations tied to government and defense workOversee supplier quality and work cross-functionally with purchasing and operationsManage inspection, documentation control, calibration systems, and asset trackingAnalyze quality metrics (defects, performance, trends) and report findings to leadershipLead and mentor the quality team while improving processes across the organizationWhat they’re looking for:7–10+ years in quality leadership within aerospace, defense, or similar regulated manufacturingStrong hands-on experience with AS9100 / ISO 9001 (AS9120 is a plus)Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt preferred)Experience with ITAR compliance and government contract requirementsAbility to lead audits, root cause investigations, and system improvementsComfortable reading engineering drawings and working with inspection toolsProven experience managing teams within a quality or inspection environmentStrong communicator — able to work across all levels internally and externallyWhy this role stands out:Direct visibility with leadership and customersOpportunity to build and shape the quality functionStable company with strong presence in defense/aerospace marketsHands-on leadership role (not just oversight)
