Outdoor/Environmental Guide (flexible, weekday, paid training) - Philadelphia, PA

Let's Go Outdoors' mission is to engage city communities in outdoor experiences. This is met by offering environmental/outdoor education lessons/guided tours and activities at environmental centers, in neighborhood parks, at local festivals, in schoolyards and or other settings, for families and youth through adults. In addition, we offer programs, like archery, fishing, hiking, arts/crafts, and camping, along with field trips, networking and outreach. Outdoor experience is not necessary, but an interest is. The work of our Guides (Educators) will support general lessons/activities that Let’s Go Outdoors may offer. Responsibilities of Educators/Guides: Work with a variety of ages, schools, families, and/or adult groups for participation in outdoor recreation, nature awareness, or environmental education. Guide/lead group lessons or activities in area classrooms, environmental centers, within parks or along park trails Utilize existing lessons/activities and modify for the needs of the group Group management, set-up and break-down of supplies and materials used for lessons/activities Work as a team and/or function independently to provide lessons/programs to people in schools and/or in the community. Qualifications and Competencies MUST be a good communicator and have the ability to represent the organization in a professional and positive manner. STRONGLY ENCOURAGED: Access and/or use of a reliable vehicle for transportation, when needed Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and capable of standing/walking for long periods of time, based on educator/guide duties. Experience leading groups, offering presentations, working with youth/families and/or in customer service is highly preferred. Background checks and clearances will be required. High school diploma and at least one year of work experience required. College students, especially liberal/general studies or education majors make a great fit for this position. Reliability and flexibility for working in different locations or environments (primarily in Philadelphia, PA) Hourly Pay: $17-$25 per hour, based on experience Hours/Schedule: At least ONE weekday per week for a shift that may be 1-4 hours, based on our needs. Shifts are usually sometime between 9am-1pm. Opportunity to work more shifts is possible, though not guaranteed. IMPORTANT INFO: Shifts are NOT guaranteed each week. Some weeks you may have 4 or more shifts offered to you, though other weeks you may have none. This is an as-needed type position and you select from the shifts we have available for your experience/skillset. We will discuss this in more detail during the interview phase.
