The campus also features a unique partnership with NewBridge on the Charles, promoting meaningful intergenerational connections.Position SummaryThe Director of Facilities is responsible for the strategic oversight, maintenance, safety, and operational performance of the School’s physical plant (approximately 82,000 square feet). This role manages outsourced vendors, ensures regulatory compliance, oversees preventive maintenance systems, and supports capital planning.This is a part-time (0.6 FTE), exempt, on-site role based in Dedham, MA. The position focuses on management and oversight rather than hands-on technical work, with day-to-day maintenance handled by internal staff and external service providers.CompensationThis position offers an annual salary range of $52,000 – $65,000, commensurate with experience. The Rashi School offers a competitive benefits package for eligible employees.Key ResponsibilitiesFacilities Operations & Systems OversightOversee all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systemsEnsure reliable, safe, and efficient operation of the campusEstablish and maintain standard operating procedures for routine and emergency situationsVendor Management (Primary Function)Manage all outsourced facilities vendors (cleaning, HVAC, security, landscaping, etc.)Negotiate contracts, monitor performance, and ensure service level expectations are metConduct regular vendor reviews and identify cost optimization opportunitiesPreventive Maintenance & Work Order SystemsLead full implementation and utilization of the School’s work order system (FMX)Develop and maintain a comprehensive preventive maintenance programEnsure timely resolution and tracking of all work ordersRegulatory Compliance & SafetyEnsure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulationsMaintain inspection schedules (fire, boiler, elevator, etc.) and documentationPartner with school leadership on safety planning and emergency preparednessCapital Planning & Deferred MaintenanceDevelop and maintain a rolling 1–3 year capital and deferred maintenance planIdentify, prioritize, and budget for facility improvements and major repairsSupport long-range facilities planning aligned with institutional prioritiesBudget ManagementDevelop and manage the annual facilities operating budgetMonitor spending and identify efficiencies while maintaining service qualityProvide regular reporting and forecasting to the Director of Finance & OperationsTeam CoordinationSupervise and support the on-site maintenance staff memberClearly define responsibilities between internal staff and external vendorsEnsure effective daily operations and communicationSecurity & Access ControlOversee building access systems, key control, and vendor access protocolsPartner with leadership on campus security enhancements and systemsQualifications5–10+ years of facilities management experience, preferably in a school, campus, or institutional settingDemonstrated experience managing outsourced vendor modelsStrong knowledge of building systems, preventive maintenance, and regulatory complianceExperience with facilities management software (FMX or similar preferred)Proven ability to manage budgets and prioritize competing needsExcellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skillsBachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferredKey CompetenciesStrategic oversight vs. hands-on executionVendor accountability and performance managementSystems thinker (process-driven, not reactive)Financial and operational disciplineRisk awareness and compliance focusWork ScheduleApproximately 24 hours per weekFlexible schedule with availability for urgent issues as neededReporting StructureReports to the Director of Finance & OperationsSupervises maintenance staff (1 FTE)Works closely with school leadership and external vendors
