This position involves designing and implementing robust database schemas, ensuring high performance, security, and availability of data systems. The Database Engineer will work closely with data engineers and development teams to integrate databases into complex data pipelines, troubleshoot issues, and implement best practices for database management. This role requires a proactive approach to monitoring database health, performing upgrades and patches, and automating routine tasks to enhance operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a self-starter mindset, with the ability to adapt to evolving technologies and organizational needs.QualificationsCandidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience levels vary from entry-level to senior roles, with specific requirements as follows:Junior: 0-3 years of experience, relevant certifications such as Cloud+, GSEC, Security+, or SSCP, and good communication skills.Journeyman: 4-7 years of experience, with additional certifications and demonstrated proficiency in database management and security.Senior: 8+ years of experience, with advanced certifications such as CISA, CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, or CISSP-ISSEP, and proven leadership capabilities.All candidates must hold a current SECRET Security Clearance and be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, excellent communication skills, and a proactive, self-motivated attitude are essential. Applicants should be able to sit at a computer for extended periods, with the flexibility to travel up to 10% for occasional assignments.ResponsibilitiesManage and optimize various database systems to ensure high performance, reliability, and security.Design and implement database schemas, structures, and access controls aligned with organizational needs.Establish and maintain database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.Monitor database health, resource utilization, and troubleshoot complex issues promptly.Perform database version upgrades, patches, and configuration tuning to ensure system stability.Implement high availability solutions and automate routine administrative tasks for efficiency.Evaluate emerging database technologies for potential integration and improvement.Maintain comprehensive database documentation and enforce standards and best practices.Conduct capacity planning to accommodate future data growth and implement monitoring and alerting systems.Collaborate with development teams to integrate databases into data pipelines and support application needs.BenefitsAvalore offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health, well-being, and professional development of our employees.
