Remote Hotel Action Station Cook - Qavartarvik Customer Lodge ($21.42/HR & Benefits - 4x4 Rotation & Housing - Bethel, AK)
Job DescriptionThe Remote Hotel Action Station Cook position is responsible for the preparation, production, and presentation of a variety of foods, completion of production sheets and with other associated food service activities. This position will primarily support the Pho/Noodle Action Station but will also support other food production duties and responsibilities.This is a rotational position in Bethel, AK supporting the Qavartarvik Customer Lodge. The rotation schedule will be 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off. Lodging and three meals per day provided. The point of hire origin is Anchorage, AK and the YKHC Service Area.ResponsibilitiesProperly, safely, and efficiently prepare food products while following standard food-handling procedures.Performs all action station food production duties with specific items determined by assigned shift.Review the needs of the day with assigned supervisor(s), completes production sheets and recipes and verify all supply needs and availability.Attends daily CPM (culinary planning meeting)Responsible for quantity and quality control in food production as well as overall sanitation of assigned areas.Greets customers with excitement and demonstrates a customer service attitude.Verifies food serving lines, areas, etc., making sure they are properly stocked, set up, and cleaned.Ensure work areas are thoroughly cleaned and organized prior to the end of every shift, providing a seamless transition to the next shift or rotation.Maintains food production equipment and storage areas following proper sanitation, safety, and operational procedures.Has ability to recognize and use proper PPE for the job tasks.Adhere to all safety policies, requirements, and training.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED equivalent.At least three (3) years of related food preparation experience.Experience in food prep, set up and action station cooking.Cleaning and maintaining food service equipment.Food Handler card, Alaska Food Workers card, or ServSafe certification within 30 days of employment.Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.Preferred QualificationsPreference given to candidates with action station cooking experience.Preference given to candidates with experience in Vietnamese cuisine, flavors, and cooking techniques.Knowledge of pho broth preparation.Knowledge of noodle preparation.At least two (2) years of related vocational training.Working Conditions and Physical RequirementsWeather: IndoorsNoise level: ModerateOffice conditions: Pace of work environment: MediumCustomer Interaction: HighDescription of environment: Hotel restaurantConstantly required to stand; frequently required to walk; occasionally required to lift, pull and push.Physical requirements: Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Travel: NoneCompetenciesNMS Core ValuesSafety guides our behavior.Honesty and integrity govern our activities.Commitments made will be fulfilled.All individuals are treated with dignity and respect.The environment will be protected and sustained.
