Scenic Carpenter

We foster a culture of love for God and love for others, trust and teamwork, and a collaborative environment in which we get to do our best work every day.The Scenic Carpenter is responsible to study blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to be able to construct, install, and repair sets and props in accordance with artistic and functional vision using materials such as plywood, foam, wallboard, metal, and a variety of other materials.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesDetermine materials and construct sets based on drawings and 3d models.Collaborate with designers, directors, and other production team members to achieve artistic and functional goals.Ensure the safe and proper handling of tools, equipment, and materials in compliance with safety standards.\Support in the maintenance and repair of existing sets and props as needed.Assist with strike and load in during show changeovers.All other duties as assigned.PrerequisitesAbility to read measuring tools and equipment and interpret drawings, design elevations and / or replicate and finish off a modelStrong knowledge of woodworking tools and equipmentPromote proper communication and a team atmosphere with coworkersAbility to operate lifts in tight spaces and work at a variety of heightsAbility to work with different kinds of personalities from linear thinking engineers to highly creative theatrical directorsMust have strong time management skills and the ability to adapt under pressureThe physical demands of this position are active in nature. You will be expected to be on your feet frequently, walk and stand regularly, consistently communicate with team members using a radio, work indoors, use ladders and other lift equipment, operate heavy machinery and power tools, and frequently lift/exert up to 50 lbs of force.
