QUALIFICATIONS: Certification in school counselingREPORTS TO: Principal, Principal DesigneeJOB GOAL: Provides developmental and age appropriate academic, career readiness and planning, and personal/social/emotional counseling.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides large and small group counseling and individual counselingAssists students in acquiring attitudes, knowledge, and skills necessary for life success in all domains listed in job goal using any of the following tools: interest inventories, mental ability tests, achievement tests, career aptitude tests, autobiographies, personal data sheets, and/or student participation sheetsServes all stakeholders (students, parents, teachers, and community)Responds to immediate needs of students necessitated by life eventsProvides career, academic, and related information to help all students develop personal goals and future plansHelps students transition from one school to anotherEncourages the choice and successful completion of a scholastic program that is consistent with the student's abilities, and that lead to the wisest options for the studentAssists students in adjusting to all areas of school life by using academic, career readiness and planning, and personal/social/emotional counselingProvides counseling services to assist students in the resolution of personal problems that affects school lifePrepares virtual guidance lessons and plans, as necessarySubmits lessons plans and other required documentation electronically, as necessaryUploads virtual lessons in a timely manner consistent with parish and school directivesPrepares for and conducts virtual instruction, interaction, and guidanceRemains accessible to school-based and virtual studentsUtilizes school technology and maintains student interaction in accordance with district and school policiesProjects well-groomed appearance, both at school and virtual platformAssists teachers in helping students to achieve their maximum potentialProvides services that make teachers' efforts more effective including testing and counseling, assisting teachers and students in developing better relationships, and making recommendations for referralsConforms to the regular time schedule for arriving at and leaving schoolParticipates in implementing a good community/school public relations programParticipates in workshops, faculty studies, and individual program of professional improvementMeets the criteria for a Professional Growth Plan following the guidelines in the Bossier Parish Program of Professional Personnel EvaluationAssumes additional responsibilities as the Principal may assign include but not limited to extra-curricular activities that relate to students interests and opportunities.Any work to be performed outside of an employee's job duties and responsibilities shall require the employee to (1) submit a written description of the services to be performed and the estimated time to complete the task, which shall be submitted to the employee's immediate supervisor prior to commencing such services, (2) obtain the prior written approval of the employee's immediate supervisor, and (3) obtain supplemental, written authority from the employee's immediate supervisor before exceeding the initial estimated time for performing such services. Such employee shall submit a completed form reflecting the services actually provided and the time spent for each item, rounded to the nearest one-tenth of an hour, within seven (7) calendar days of performing such services.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine (9) monthsSALARY RANGE: See adopted Bossier Parish Salary Schedule
