Veterinary Dental Specialties – Tukwila is hiring an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT). Candidates should have a passion for dentistry, anesthesia, and exceptional client and patient care. This position also encompasses all the duties of a veterinary technician.This full-time position consists of four 10-12 hour shifts, Tuesday through Friday.This position earns a competitive wage of $30.00 to $35.00 per hour depending on experience and includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus. Licensure and CE allowances are provided.JOB QUALIFICATIONS3 – 5 years of LVT experience in a veterinary clinic or specialty clinic as a veterinary technician.Required: previous surgical technician assistance.Must be proficient in intubation, IV catheter placement, must be comfortable monitoring and quickly respond to anesthesia and assisting the surgeon as necessary.Experience with dentals and dental radiology required.High degree of emotional intelligence, work ethic and integrity skills required.Able to use sound judgement when dealing with confidential information.Able to multi-task and prioritize job duties in a busy and constantly changing work environment.Able to be calm and level-headed in an often-stressful work environment.Experience in maintaining computerized medical records; EzyVet and Cubex experience a plus.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Knowledge of basic animal handling, knowledge of basic animal health care.Must pass a background and drug screening (THC not tested)PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESFamiliar with federal and state animal health laws and regulations including OSHA and DEA.Exhibit a technical knowledge of products and medications sold, including dietary products. Demonstrate the ability to explain and educate clients on products and answer their questions regarding product purchase/use.Obtain and record patient histories.Collect specimens and perform routine laboratory procedures and tests.Dispense and administer medications as prescribed by veterinarians.Administer fluids prescribed by the veterinarian.Administer and monitor anesthesia under the direction of a veterinarian.Prepare patients, instruments and equipment for surgery.Assure that monitoring and support equipment such as anesthetic machines, cardiac monitors and breathing apparatus are in good working condition.Take and process radiographs and CT-Cone beam.Clean, maintain and sterilize instruments, equipment, and materials.Work well with all employees and ensure that your actions support the hospital, the doctors and the practice philosophy.Perform general physical activities that require bending, standing and stooping. May be required to walk or stand for long periods of time.Frequently lift, carry and handle dogs weighing 50 lbs.Perform other duties as assigned.
