Located at the entrance of Sorrel River, it is a one-stop-shop for a full range of groceries; from farm-fresh vegetables, eggs, butter and fresh daily made bread; treats, snacks and other necessities along with curated gifts, camping gear and Sorrel River Ranch and JJ’s Mercantile branded apparel.Position Overview       We’re looking for a dependable and customer-focused General Store Clerk to join our team. This role is the face of the store—helping customers, preparing coffee and grab-and-go items, handling sales, and keeping the store clean, stocked, and welcoming. If you enjoy working with people in a fast-paced, community-focused environment, this could be a great fit.Position ResponsibilitiesGreet customers and provide friendly, helpful serviceOperate the point-of-sale (POS - Shopify) system and handle cash and card transactions accuratelyPrepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks (if applicable), and simple food itemsStock and rotate grab-and-go food, pastries, beverages, and retail merchandiseMaintain clean and organized displays, coffee station, and food areasFollow food safety, sanitation, and health guidelinesMonitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needsAssist with opening and closing duties as scheduledSupport kitchen and store team as needed during busy periodsWork efficiently to meet daily production goals and peak hoursCollaborate with store staff to ensure displays are stocked and appealingEnsure products meet quality, taste, and appearance standardsFollow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulationsMonitor inventory and report ingredient or supply needClean and maintain baking equipment and work areasMust be able to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends & holidaysPerform any other job-related duties as assignedEducation/ExperiencePrevious retail, café, or customer service experience preferred (but not required)Comfortable handling food and beverages (Food Handler’s Certification mandatory)Basic math and cash-handling skillsAbility to multitask and stay organized in a busy environmentStrong communication and customer service skillsFood safety and sanitation knowledge (Food Handler’s Certification is mandatory)Ability to work independently and manage time effectivelyStrong attention to detail and consistencyAbility to stand for long periods and lift to 50 lbs.We thank all applicants; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.Applicants who do not already have legal permission to work in the United States will not be considered.
