Join Our Team as a Part-Time Behavioral Health Billing SpecialistAre you an experienced medical biller with a strong understanding of behavioral health services and a passion for accuracy and client service? Alternative Wellness Services (AWS) is seeking a Part-Time Billing Specialist to join our growing team.
In this role, you'll focus exclusively on billing and client account management. You'll ensure claims are processed efficiently, balances are monitored, and clients receive clear and compassionate communication about their accounts.
What You'll DoPrepare and submit claims for behavioral health services accurately and in a timely manner
Review and correct claim rejections or denials, following up as needed to ensure resolution
Post payments, track balances, and reconcile patient accounts
Communicate with insurance payors to verify benefits, resolve discrepancies, and update account information
Contact clients regarding account balances and payment status in a professional, supportive manner
Collect payments, establish and maintain payment plans, and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding balances
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CPT codes, insurance requirements, and behavioral health billing regulations
Support the billing team with reporting, process improvements, and other administrative tasks as needed

Requirements
What We're Looking For
Experience:Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience, preferably in behavioral health
Knowledge:Strong understanding of claim processing, payor follow-up, CPT coding, and patient billing procedures
Skills:Detail-oriented, organized, and proficient in billing software and electronic health record systems
Work Style:Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with the billing and administrative teams
Availability:3 days per week, on-site in our Portland office
