KDHE is comprised of three divisions: Public Health, Environment, and Health Care Finance (which includes the State's Medicaid program, KanCare). We are the only agency in the nation to have these three entities under one roof which allows us to take a holistic approach to improving and protecting the health and well-being of all Kansans.

Position Summary & Responsibilities:
KDHE - Bureau of Air is seeking a Summer Intern! As an intern, you will contribute to the protection of clean air for all Kansans. This internship will focus on improving the quality of environmental and permitting data, conducting data analysis, and helping draft planning documents for the State Implementation Plan.
Perform environmental data entry and quality assurance (QA) into the Kansas Environmental Information Management System (KEIMS). Duties include reading through permits to verify information, generating KEIMS reports for QA, and inputting missing pollutant data.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following
Assist planning staff in completion of various planning related documents, including, but not limited to, Transportation Conformity of K.A.R. 28-19-800 and 801, New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) K.A.R. 28-19-720, and Secondary SO2 Infrastructure State Implementation Plan (SIP).
Create a timeline on Kansas-specific Regional Haze actions for documentation on the KDHE-Bureau of Air website. The timeline will include links to all previous actions regarding Regional Haze and a summary of the Regional Haze program.
Qualifications
Education:
High School, GED
Licensing & Certification:
Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a college program
Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation to sites.
Due to the nature of the business, the incumbent must be a minimum of 18 years old at the time of employment.
As a condition of employment, it will be subject to a criminal background check
Preferred Qualifications:
Current college student, majoring in sciences such as biology, engineering, earth sciences, or other
