Junior Project Manager
MBA Consulting Services, Inc. (MBA CSi) is seeking a Junior Project Manager to support high-impact automation equipment programs for the United States Postal Service (USPS) within the Engineering Systems organization in Merrifield, VA. This role sits within the Technology Acquisition and Program Management - Automation Equipment (TAPM) group, where innovation, large-scale engineering, and operational efficiency come together to power one of the most critical logistics networks in the country.In this role, you will manage complex, enterprise-level technology projects supporting the acquisition, deployment, and optimization of advanced mail and package sorting systems-some spanning the size of a football field. You will collaborate with engineers, vendors, and senior leadership to drive innovation, support procurement and deployment efforts, and help bring next-generation automation solutions from concept to nationwide implementation. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to mission-critical infrastructure while working in a highly collaborative and forward-thinking environment.This position is based onsite in Merrifield, VA and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a USPS Public Trust (MBI) clearance.ResponsibilitiesProvide full lifecycle project management support, including administrative oversight and direct coordination with USPS technical points of contact to ensure alignment with contract requirementsAssist Program Managers with deployment scheduling, requirements gathering, site preparation analysis, and funding managementCoordinate and manage acquisition, deployment, and testing of automation and sorting equipment systemsAnalyze, track, and prepare financial reports, budgets, and cost analyses for major capital equipment programsTrack and manage financial requests, contracts, invoices, and procurement activities using TAPM tracking systemsPrepare and deliver reports and presentations to senior leadership on project status, risks, and financial performanceLead meetings with stakeholders, including taking attendance, tracking action items, and ensuring follow-up and accountabilityManage multiple concurrent priorities and ensure timely project delivery across complex initiativesUtilize databases and internal systems (e.g., Ethos and TAPM tools) to input and track project and site dataCommunicate effectively with vendors, contractors, USPS staff, and leadership to resolve issues and drive project successSupport pilot implementations and nationwide deployment of automation solutionsApply sound judgment, creativity, and problem-solving to meet program objectivesBasic QualificationsBachelor's degreeMinimum of 3 years of experience in project management, preferably within an engineering or federal environment (5+ years preferred)Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and MS ProjectExperience managing budgets, financial tracking, and reportingAbility to lead meetings, manage stakeholders, and drive accountabilityStrong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environmentAbility to quickly develop a working understanding of postal processing operations and automation equipment (SDUS machines)Experience using databases or tracking systems to input and manage project dataExcellent communication and presentation skillsAbility to travel and work flexible hours as neededMust pass a pre-employment background check and drug screeningAbility to obtain and maintain a USPS Public Trust (MBI) security clearancePreferred QualificationsExperience supporting federal government programs or contractsFamiliarity with large-scale automation, industrial equipment, or logistics systemsExperience supporting capital equipment programs, procurement, or deployment initiativesPrior experience working within engineering or R&D-focused organizationsKnowledge of project tracking tools, Kanban boards, or Agile-like environmentsExperience working with vendors and managing external partnerships"MBA CSi is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action Employer.
