Director of Evangelization and Adult Faith Formation
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, located in Crofton, MD, seeks candidates for a Director of Evangelization and Adult Faith Formation. The Director of Evangelization and Adult Faith Formation will be responsible to the Pastor for the development and implementation of a comprehensive evangelization plan for the parish and a program of faith formation for adults. Upholding the mission of the Church to evangelize and bring others to Christ, this position works collaboratively with the youth minister and director of family life in executing a comprehensive program of faith formation for the parish. Critical to the position is the ability to utilize and incorporate new media and communication methods and explore new approaches to Catholic Formation in order to form disciples who make disciples.Essential FunctionsEffectively establish an overall evangelization plan pursuant to the parish pastoral plan and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) plan for The New Evangelization: Faith-Worship-Witness.In concert with the Pastor, Pastoral Staff, Pastoral Council and other committees, help shape, formulate and direct activities that fulfill the Parish's vision for lifelong growth in faith.Implement ways to reach out to those active, inactive and the unchurched in our community including but not limited to:The LGBTQ+ communityThe Divorced & RemarriedThe GrievingYoung AdultWorks with other parish ministers to promote cohesive, effective evangelization programming.Plans and Implements a Lenten Parish Mission.Forms a collaborative team with the youth minister and the director of family life.Oversees and implements a formal process to welcome new parishioners.Directs:Order of Christian Initiation of AdultOrder of the Christian Initiation of ChildrenPreparation for Adult ConfirmationAdult Faith Formation ProgramsBible StudiesAdult Small Faith Formation GroupsPosition QualificationsRoman Catholic in sacramental union with the ChurchBachelor's Degree in Religious Education or Theology preferred but not requiredOR National Credential in Youth MinistryOR background in theology and educational methodologiesOR Willingness to work toward the educational qualifications for the jobKnowledge of diocesan guidelines and proceduresProficiency in computer programsPossess good written and oral communication and organizational skillsPossess working knowledge of social media for communicating with parents and familiesRELATIONSHIPS:Member of the Pastoral StaffDirectly accountable to the pastorReports to the Parish Council as requestedStaffs the Welcoming CommitteeStaffs the Adult Spiritual Enrichment CommitteeCollaborates with Archdiocesan Institute of EvangelizationMaintains a visible presence to the parish-at-largeSalary Range: $60,000 - $70,000, AnnualizedBenefits:We offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package with this position, including health, dental, and vision coverage; employer-paid life and disability insurance; automatic enrollment in the 403(b) plan and employer contribution (whether or not the employee contributes); and generous paid holiday, sick and vacation leave.
