Software Developer VI
Overview
In this role you will develop embedded software for spacecraft avionics, payloads, and ground support equipment within GA-EMS. You will work in the CSS group to address complex, security-focused challenges for DoD and IC customers, bridging software design and system integration. You will collaborate with engineers and leadership to shape solutions across the spacecraft system lifecycle and advance new capabilities. The work combines low-level programming with embedded development on power-constrained platforms, offering impact on national security systems. You will join a mission-driven team solving critical technical problems in a high-stakes environment.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop embedded software for spacecraft bus avionics and payloadsCreate utilities to support deeply embedded systemsCoordinate solution integration and documentation, testing, and maintenanceServe as technical contact and collaborate with customers and managementProvide technical direction and leadership to junior staffPlan maintenance of engineering solutions including reporting and presentationsIdentify future applications and opportunities for expansionMaintain confidentiality and comply with laws and regulations
Key requirementsBachelor/Masters/PhD in computer science or related discipline (or equivalent experience)12+ years with Bachelor, 10+ with Master, or 7+ with PhDStrong C/C++ programming proficiencyExtensive Linux development experience (GCC, Makefiles, shell scripting)Embedded development including cross-compiling for targeted hardwareKnowledge of satellite system design lifecycle and environmental testing (desired)Experience with image processing and OpenCV (desired)Customer-focused, able to work independently or in teams, willingness to travelUS Citizenship and Top Secret clearance (or ability to obtain)strong communication and interpersonal skillsleadership and mentoring abilitiesproblem-solving and quick concept adaptationC/C++ programmingLinux development environmentEmbedded systems development
