School Bus Driver

School Bus DriverThe School Bus Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of students to and from school, athletic events, field trips, and other school-sponsored activities. This position also assists with custodial duties as needed.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesSafely operate a school bus on assigned routes and schedulesConduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspectionsEnsure the safety of students during loading, transport, and unloadingMaintain appropriate student behavior and report incidents as requiredFollow all Massachusetts RMV and DESE regulationsMaintain accurate logs, mileage records, and incident reportsReport mechanical defects, accidents, or unsafe conditions immediatelyParticipate in mandatory training, safety meetings, and certification renewalsMaintain confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with students, staff, and familiesQualificationsMinimum Qualifications - Preferred QualificationsValid Massachusetts CDL Class B license (minimum CDL Permit)Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsementsValid Massachusetts School Bus Driver CertificateCurrent DOT Medical Examiner's CertificateAbility to pass CORI/SORI background checks, drug and alcohol testing, and physical examination - Previous experience in a School environmentStrong communication and student management skillsKnowledge of Massachusetts school transportation regulationsKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of safe driving techniquesAbility to operate a school bus safely in all weather conditionsAbility to respond appropriately during emergenciesStrong attendance and punctualityPhysical RequirementsAbility to sit for extended periodsAbility to climb bus steps and assist students when necessaryAbility to perform emergency evacuation proceduresAbility to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 poundsWork ScheduleFull-time day shift, year round.Additional hours available for athletic trips and extracurricular activities - Compensation & BenefitsPay based on Custodial ContractPaid training opportunitiesEligibility for benefits per district policy or collective bargaining agreementPaid sick time and holidays
