Summary of Duties
This position is part of Oregon Eligibility Partnership (OEP). OEP is part of the Oregon Department of Human Services. OEP provides direction and resources to everyone working to determine eligibility for Oregonians applying for and receiving medical, food, cash, and childcare benefits through the ONE eligibility system.

As a Benefit and Eligibility Worker you will:
Treat customers, stakeholders, partners, vendors and co-workers with dignity and respect.
Conduct phone or in person interviews for Oregonians, collecting household details, current income, current resources, and other applicant information necessary to determine their social, habilitative, therapeutic, food, medical, and safety needs.
Explain applicant rights and responsibilities during the initial application interview and when benefits are changed and renewed.
Utilize all applicable forms, computer systems, tools, and resources to make eligibility determinations at intake, when an Oregonian renews benefits, and or when a recipient reports changes to household.
Communicate eligibility decisions to applicants and send all required notifications within the appropriate time frame.
Process data in a timely manner to ensure delivery of benefits and services.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience determining eligibility for an agency program by interviewing to assess the needs of clients and interpreting and applying the policies, rules, and guidelines applicable to the client's situation.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience relative to the class concept.

Working Conditions
Work schedule is 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday on-site at the NE Salem ODHS branch office; this is not a remote work or hybrid work position.
Experience constant contact with the public, including contact with customers experiencing emotional and financial stress.
Serve a diverse range of customers with compassion and professionalism through a trauma informed lens.
May require sitting at a computer or telephone for prolonged periods of the workday.
