This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who has built a strong accounting foundation and is ready to step into a highly visible Controller position while partnering directly with an experienced CFO.If you're someone who enjoys rolling up your sleeves, improving processes, leading a team, and helping shape the future of a business, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact from day one.This role is based in Lenexa, Kansas and partners closely with operations in both Kansas and Chicago.Why This Opportunity Stands OutDirect partnership with an experienced CFO who enjoys developing talentOpportunity to step into the Controller seat with room for long-term growthHigh visibility across executive leadershipAbility to influence financial processes, reporting, and operational improvementsWork with multiple business entities and help improve accounting efficienciesJoin a company full of passionate automotive enthusiasts (being a "car person" is definitely a bonus!)What You'll DoYou'll lead the day-to-day accounting function while serving as a trusted financial partner to leadership.Responsibilities include:Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processPrepare accurate GAAP-compliant financial statementsLead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reportingSupervise a team of three accounting professionals (AP/AR)Coordinate audits and work closely with external accounting and tax partnersPartner with operations to improve inventory accounting and financial processesAssist with ERP and accounting system integration initiatives across multiple business entitiesDevelop and strengthen internal controls and reporting processesCollaborate with the Controller supporting the Chicago operation to deliver consolidated financial reportingProvide financial analysis and recommendations to leadershipWhat We're Looking ForBachelor's degree in Accounting or FinanceCPA preferredApproximately 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experiencePrevious experience as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or ControllerStrong understanding of GAAP and month-end closeComfortable working in a hands-on environment where no task is beneath youExperience leading or mentoring accounting staffNaturally curious, proactive, and willing to ask questionsManufacturing, distribution, inventory, or private equity experience is helpful but not requiredThe Ideal CandidateWe're looking for someone who is:Ready for the next step in their careerExcited to learn and grow alongside an experienced CFOProcess-minded and enjoys making things betterComfortable balancing strategic thinking with day-to-day accounting workCollaborative, humble, and eager to jump in wherever neededIf you happen to love cars, hot rods, racing, or classic vehicles—that's an added bonus—but it's certainly not required.
