Typical Duties
Lead the application support team responsible for development and support of applications running on Mainframe (zOS & VSE), Unix, and Cold Fusion platforms
Administer and resolve application issues, provide updates, and perform root cause analysis with comprehensive remediation documentation
Supervise all alerts related to application and system procedures, and proactively provide services
Coordinate with stakeholders and third-party teams to resolve application and system issues of varying complexities
Act as a technical advisor and troubleshoot to resolve technical challenges
Provide expert insights on system architecture and designs for enhancements and new interfaces based on performance, reliability, and feasibility, including Mainframe modernization
Collaborate with enterprise architects and product managers to iterate on design and implementation
Coordinate with development and QA teams in executing code migrations to production systems and transitioning responsibilities for ongoing maintenance and support
Aid in standardizing processes to industry best practices and gain access to world-class capabilities
Support day-to-day business operations in handling millions of records of time-sensitive data in various data structures such as files and databases, and suggest fixes to complex issues through thorough analysis of root cause and impact
Suggest and implement process improvements leveraging automation to reduce manual effort
Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
Coordinate with multiple geographically distributed teams
Requirements
Extensive experience with Mainframe (zOS & VSE) programming languages, including APSCOBOL, APSCICS, JCL, and PLI
Expertise in Mainframe tools like ChangeMan, SPUFI, SYNCSORT, ICETOOL, and File-Aid
Proficiency in SQL programming for DB2, UDB, MSSQL Server, and Azure SQL
Hands-on experience with scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Shell, and Cold Fusion
Familiarity with IBM Sterling Connect Direct, IBM MQFTE, and other file transfer tools/protocols
Experience with time-sensitive application support processes, including logging, monitoring, and alerting tools
Experience with multi-platform application integrations
Proven ability to build and deploy scalable, highly available Mainframe solution architectures and disaster recovery processes
Knowledge of standard IT security practices such as Identity and Access Management and Change Management
Expertise in the Retail Domain, particularly with Financial Costing and Accounting, Promotional Contracts, and Supply Chain lifecycle
