Tenure-Track Faculty: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program

We invite passionate and collaborative Physical Therapy professionals to apply for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in our Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program. This is a 9-month position anticipated to begin August 2026. Heartland's PTA program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).As a faculty member, you will play a key role in preparing the next generation of Physical Therapist Assistants through engaging instruction, supportive mentorship, and participation in program development. There is an optional additional assignment as the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE).Faculty in the PTA Program have a dynamic role with opportunities to teach, innovate, and lead. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Teaching & Instruction: Deliver engaging learning experiences in classroom and lab settings, with the possibility of contributing to other Health Sciences disciplinesCurriculum Development: Participate in curriculum design, assessment, and refinement to ensure alignment with best practices and evolving professional standardsProgram & Department Engagement: Contribute to department projects, program review, accreditation processes, and strategic planning initiativesCollege Service: Serve on department and College-wide committees that advance student success and institutional goalsRequirementsEarned degree to practice Physical TherapyCurrent Illinois Physical Therapist licenseMinimumof 3 years of documented full-time post-licensure clinical experience in physical therapyAbility to work effectively and inclusively with diverse students, colleagues, and community partnersDesired QualificationsMinimum of 2 years of experience as a clinical instructorMinimum of2 years of teaching and/or curriculum development experience in a PT or PTA programAbility to teach additional courses within other Health Sciences disciplinesPlease upload the following documents at the time of application:Cover letterRésumé or CVStatement of teaching philosophy with description of teaching and assessment practicesCopies of transcriptsCopy of professional license(s)Contact Kelly Pyle, Dean of Health Sciences, with questions at Kelly.Pyle@heartland.edu or 309-268-8755.Anticipated starting salary range for this 9-month position is $48,356 - $65,034, plus any applicable pay for overload and/or summer assignments.Review of applications will be ongoing as needed.Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.THIS POSITION IS BASED IN NORMAL, IL AND REQUIRES ON-CAMPUS/IN-PERSON PRESENCE.
