Substitute Yoga Instructor
Responsible for conducting safe, engaging, and inclusive yoga classes for community members. Provides substitute coverage for scheduled instructors and ensures a positive experience for participants of all skill levels.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead yoga classes that support flexibility, balance, and overall physical wellness
Adjust class instruction to meet the needs and abilities of participants
Provide clear demonstrations, pose modifications, and safety guidance
Maintain an inviting and professional class atmosphere
Communicate availability with Recreation Staff for substitute scheduling
Assist with setup and breakdown of class space
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
At least 18 years of age
Basic understanding of physical fitness
Extensive knowledge of yoga yoga postures, modifications, and class structure
Strong customer service skills
Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening
Availability to work Tuesday from 5:45-6:45PM when called.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
RYT-200 (Registered Yoga Teacher, 200 hours) through Yoga Alliance OR an equivalent 200-hour yoga teacher training program
Current CPR / AED certification
1 year of teaching experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must possess the ability to perform all tasks demonstrated in the class, including bending, stretching, balancing, and moderate physical activity. Must be available on Tuesdays from 5:45–6:45 PM when called to substitute. The Recreation Department will make every effort to pre-plan and communicate needed substitute dates in advance.
