Workers’ Compensation Defense Legal SecretaryLocation: Glendale, CA (Hybrid / Remote Flexibility) Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire Compensation: $65,000 – $75,000 per year About the OpportunityWe are seeking a seasoned Workers’ Compensation Defense Legal Secretary to join an industry-leading Property & Casualty Insurance Company with a rich 170-year history. In this role, you will serve as the backbone of the litigation process, supporting in-house staff counsel in defending workers' compensation claims. Key ResponsibilitiesE-Filing & Documentation: Expertly navigate the EAMS system for electronic filing of pleadings, motions, and petitions. Calendar Management: Proactively manage complex legal calendars, including MSCs, Trials, Depositions, and Lien Conferences. Document Preparation: Draft and format legal documents such as Answers, Objections to PTP reports, DORs, and Trial Exhibits. Medical-Legal Coordination: Schedule QMEs/AMEs and ensure all necessary medical records are served and filed according to statutory timelines. Liaison: Act as a professional point of contact for claims adjusters, opposing counsel, and the WCAB. Mail Processing: Handle both in-bound and out-bound paper and electronic mail. QualificationsExperience: 4+ years of Workers’ Compensation legal secretary experience (defense experience preferred). Technical Skills: Proficiency in EAMS, MS Office Suite, and legal case management software. Expertise: Deep knowledge of California Workers' Compensation laws and WCAB procedures. Efficiency: Ability to manage a high-volume desk with minimal supervision and sharp attention to detail.
