Lead Product Applications ManagerLocation: Santa Clara, CADuration: Full-time/PermResponsible for providing technical guidance to customers to overcome design challenges, generating collateral for existing and new products, and driving innovation by providing insightful feedback to other internal teams to continuously improve products and processes.OverviewClient a leader in purpose-built connectivity solutions for data-centric systems, is seeking a Product Applications Engineer in Santa Clara, CA with experience supporting the development and designing in of semiconductor products for high-speed communication protocols like PCIe, Ethernet, CXL, Infiniband, DDR, NVMe, USB, etc.Job DescriptionAs an client Lead Product Application Engineer, you will be part of a team that designs-in and supports Astera Labs' portfolio of connectivity products in the world's leading cloud service providers, server OEMs, and memory vendors. In this role, you will need to provide technical guidance to customers to overcome design challenges, generate collateral for existing and new products, and drive innovation by providing insightful feedback to other internal teams to continuously improve products and processes. There are opportunities to support key customers directly, and also to dive deep in the lab to address the challenges associated with leading edge semiconductor products.Basic QualificationsStrong academic and technical background in electrical engineering. At minimum, a Bachelor's in EE is required, Master's is preferred.Minimum of 10+ of years' experience working with Cloud service providers or server OEMs or CPU/memory vendors to design in complex SoC/silicon products for Server, Storage, and/or compute applications.Strong communications skills working externally with key customers, partners and ecosystem players.Strong team player working with and enabling the internal engineering, marketing and sales teams.Entrepreneurial, open-mind behavior and can-do attitude. Think and act with the customer in mind.Required Experience and ResponsibilitiesHands-on, thorough knowledge of NRZ/PAM4 SerDes-based protocols like PCIe, CXL, Ethernet (25G+), and/or advanced memory controllers and memory interfaces such as (LP)DDR5/4.Hands-on experience in soliciting customer needs and synthesizing feedback, understanding market requirements and capturing in marketing requirements, defining products meeting the market needs and help defining the specific product requirements in PRD, working seamlessly with the engineering organization, taking the product to market and capturing significant market share.Silicon/System bring-up and debug experience in customer systems and environments, and experience with lab equipment including traffic generators, analyzers, and high-speed oscilloscopes.A strong background in high-speed board design techniques, and understanding of Data Center systems like Servers, accelerators, AiC cards, JBOGs/JBODs, Networking switches/routers/interconnects etc.Technical writing skills to generate clear, precise documentation including datasheets, application notes, and similar guides for internal and customer-facing audiences.Strong experience with customer issue tracking systems like Jira and issue resolution management.Visit direct and indirect customers and forge collaborations and partnershipsWork hand-in-hand with sales to manage US and worldwide datacenter accounts, whether they be direct or indirectAdded ExperienceWorking with silicon characterization/validation teams to ensure device performance is readily achievable in customer systems is a plus.Firmware development with C-language, scripting with Python or other equivalent programming languages is huge plus.Knowledge of simulation/modeling, schematic capture, and PCB layout tools from Cadence, Altium and others.Knowledge of simulation tools such as Keysight ADS, SiSoft QCD, etc. for IBIS-AMI analysis.
