CNC Operator – Multi-Axis Machining

At Vatn Systems, we specialize in designing and manufacturing advanced Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) that push the boundaries of underwater exploration and defense technology. Our AUVs integrate complex electro-mechanical systems, high-precision sensors, and cutting-edge software to operate in challenging marine environments. We’re looking for a skilled CNC operator to join our growing production team and play a key role in transitioning products from R&D to full-scale production.Role DescriptionAs a multi-axis CNC Operator at Vatn Systems you will support precision machining operations by running multi-axis CNC equipment and verifying part quality throughout the machining process. This role requires strong attention to detail, disciplined execution of established processes, and the ability to identify issues before they impact part quality. This position supports a rapidly scaling machining operation, where consistency and repeatability are critical to sustaining increasing production rates.Primary ResponsibilitiesOperate CNC equipment: 5-axis mills, Mill-turn, LatheExecute processes for production and R&D componentsLoad/unload parts and manage workholding setupsExecute established programs and follow setup documentationPerform in-process inspection on critical features using manual metrology toolsMonitor process qualityPerform hand-finishing: Execute meticulous deburring, edge breaking, and final cleaningof precision machined partsIdentify and escalate; out-of-tolerance conditions, process instability, drawing ambiguitiesMaintain machine and shop readiness; manage coolant levels, chip management, basicmachine maintenance, and keep the general shop floor clean and organizedSupport continuous improvement of shop processes through constructive feedbackRequired Qualifications2–4 years CNC machining or operation experienceExperience working with tight toleranced hardwareAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings and basic GD&TStrong familiarity with precision measurement toolsDemonstrated attention to detail and process disciplineAbility to follow established processes consistentlyWillingness to tackle general shop support tasks, from deburring to floor maintenanceWillingness to stop production and escalate issues when neededPreferred QualificationsExperience with multi-axis machining (4-axis / 5-axis)Familiarity with Fanuc CNC controlsExperience with production environmentsExposure to in-process probing and or inspection methodsBasic understanding of tool life management and tool wear patternVatn Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
