Job Opportunity ASCEND staff are positioned to provide ASCEND customers and members with the best indoor climbing experience possible. Job Overview ASCEND staff are positioned to provide ASCEND customers and members with the best indoor climbing experience possible. This looks like providing excellent customer service to members and guests as well as cleaning to keep the facility looking good. While on shift and on-site, ASCEND Staff are expected to remain engaged with other staff members and customers to exude positivity and live by ASCEND's moral guidelines and brand expectations. While climbing experience is certainly recommended, it is not required. ASCEND firmly believes that specific skills can be learned, but that a positive and attentive demeanor is an important trait to bring to the table. Responsibilities and Duties Oversee waiver and membership agreements, all check-ins, and rental and retail sales Maintaining retail area - restocking and selling merchandise and gear Handling cash and credit transactions with accuracy and speed Assisting customers and providing excellent customer service Ensuring that rental gear is properly returned, cleaned, and organized Administering safety and orientation walkthroughs that include effective test-fall demonstrations, belay test-outs, and introductory auto belay lessons Keeping a watchful eye on customers' safety and enjoyment Completing cleaning and other facility maintenance tasks each shift Learning, understanding, and being able to speak to the different programs offered at ASCEND. Qualities and Experience Experience in customer service roles, working within a climbing gym, outdoor recreation, or related roles/fields Available to work a minimum of 2 shifts per week and weekend days are required Able to purposely fall from a minimum of at least 3 - 4 feet to display proper fall techniques, stand for extended periods of time, and lift & carry a minimum of 20 lbs but no more than a maximum of 50 lbs for an extended period of time. A positive attitude and demeanor Affinity for climbing, fitness, yoga, and community Evening and weekends are required. We are looking to fill evening shifts from 2-9p and 4p-12a weeknights and all shifts weekends. Salary $15 - $15 per hour
