Collections Specialist
Established organization is seeking a Collections Specialist on a temporary basis for approximately 3-6 months in the greater Glendale, CA area. Pay ranges from $20-24 DOE.Responsibilities:Contact members by phone, email, and letter regarding delinquent consumer loan and credit card accountsWork with members to understand their financial situation and recommend appropriate repayment solutionsNegotiate payment arrangements in accordance with credit union policies and regulatory requirementsDocument all member interactions and collection activities accurately within core systemsMonitor assigned accounts and follow up on payment commitmentsEnsure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including FDCPA and credit union policiesEscalate complex or high-risk accounts to management as neededCollaborate with internal teams to support overall loan servicing and risk mitigation effortsQualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in finance, business, or a related field preferredMinimum of 1-2 years of collections experience, preferably within a credit union or financial institutionKnowledge of consumer lending, loan servicing, and collections best practicesStrong communication and negotiation skills with a member-first mindsetAbility to handle sensitive conversations with professionalism, empathy, and discretionProficiency with computer systems, loan servicing platforms, and Microsoft OfficeAccurate data entry and strong attention to detailAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
