Clear Flour Coffee Bar Cafe Manager

Scope & General Purpose:The Coffee Bar Manager is a seasoned coffee bar employee who will support daily operations, with a focus on managing the Clear Flour Coffee retail experience, including team and customer experiences and maintaining the space. This position works collaboratively with the Clear Flour Bread coffee team and management team to drive operations, run the department efficiently for the business, employees, and customers, and activate opportunities for employees to grow and learn.Clear Flour Managers are committed to the following job components, designed to create a meaningful, growth-oriented position:Recognize that Clear Flour success is centered around working with all team members, across multiple departments (bread, pastry, retail, coffee), with varying skill sets and experience level.Be a business-oriented leader, understanding that smart decision making around purchasing, care of product, community involvement and team scheduling impacts all elements of bakery operations.Exude passion for coffee, bread, pastry, customer service and the Clear Flour environment.Understand that advocacy is a core value, supporting the product development, employee experience and Clear Flour brand.Management Structure: Reports to General Managers.Core Management ResponsibilitiesContribute positivity, enthusiasm, and energy for the coffee bar, its baristas, and its customers each day.Encourage and nurture a level of passion and knowledge within coffee bar staff to deepen their understandings of origins, flavors, and brewing methods.Provide coaching to the baristas on product information, hospitality and care of the retail space.• Assist in the shop, so staff can take breaks and / or at times of high volume. A large portion of the job is on the floor with your team.Communicate daily with coffee bar staff to allocate tasks, improve/implement systems, and maintain staff morale.Write and conduct team reviews, and handle any issues that arise involving team members and/or customers.Support hiring, training and development of coffee bar baristas, in partnership with the office, including maintaining high standards of hospitality.Support all aspects of retail operations including assisting with correct setup and breakdown each day, cleanliness of space, equipment, furniture and care of physical plant.Work in tandem with the Savory department, Facilities manager, Retail manager, and office.Consistently review operations to identify areas of growth & opportunities for improvement.Operations ResponsibilitiesEnsure the consistency of high quality drinks regardless of time or volume of orders.• Maintain a high level of cleanliness and health code standards.Works regular floor shifts as a barista in the coffee bar with the coffee bar team making high quality espresso, drip, tea and specialty drinks. Takes customer orders, uses POS (Square), restocks paper goods/materials, etc.Care for equipment. Calibrating espresso machines, reaching out to others when equipment needs servicing, etc.Make the coffee bar schedule – with support from the office as needed – including approval & denial of time-off requests through our payroll platform.Weekly check-ins with the office, Savory department, and Retail Manager.Curate, order, restock and maintain inventory for the grocery section of the coffee bar.Make signs and update Square with new products and / or pricing changes.Collaborate with Savory for Specialty drink creation and curation.Contribute to Coffee Bar social media.Communicate with coffee roasters and tea companies.Job RequirementsAbility to work well under pressure in a fast paced, ever changing work environment.Ability to complete both daily work, initiative driven work as well as lead special projects.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Highly organized with strong attention to detail.High integrity and professionalism.BenefitsHealth/Dental/Vision2 weeks pto in first year, 3 weeks in 2nd year, 4 weeks in 5th yearMonthly $50 "Wellness Stipend"401k and Profit ShareSchedule OverviewWeekly 4–5 day per week schedule, 30–45 hours.
